Complaint Filed Against Priya Prakash Varrier

A complaint has been filed against the viral song featuring Priya Prakash Varrier for hurting Muslim sentiments at Falaknuma Police station in Hyderabad.

The complaint reportedly states that the lyrics of the song insult Prophet Muhammad when translated to English.

According to a report in Times Now, one of the complainants, Muqeeth Khan has reportedly said that while the lyrics of Manikya Malarayi Poovi are hurtful, they have nothing against its actress.

According to a report in ANI the ACP of Falaknuma, Syed Faiyaz said that no FIR has been filed yet. “We received a complaint from a few men that the viral song’s lyrics is hurting the sentiments of Muslims. They have not submitted a video proof and we have asked them to provide us with the same. No FIR has been registered as yet,” he said.

Talking about his film, the director of Oru Adaar Love, Omar Lulu told, “People around the country, or rather around the world, are loving it,” Lulu said. “But there has been some opposition from some old Muslims in the community. They feel that a love song that is about the Prophet Muhammad and his wife in a film is insulting to Islam. But these people are in a small minority.”

The group has reportedly asked the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi to intervene in the matter.

Priya Prakash Varrier, starring in Oru Adaar Love, has became a viral sensation overnight and has gained almost 3 million followers on Instagram because of a “wink” in the song.

Oru Adaar Love is written and directed by Omar Lulu.
