Akshay Kumar’s social drama PadMan, which has now become the talk of the town, will reportedly have its Tamil version. Buzz has it that Columbia Pictures, which bankrolled Pad Man, is all set to bring the story to Tamil viewers. The highlight is that Akshay’s role as Arunachalam Muruganantham will be played by popular Tamil actor Dhanush, who was last seen in VIP 2 also starring Kajol. The Bollywood film PadMan, directed by R Balki is being loved by the audience as it is all set to mint Rs 50 crore at the box-office.
While Dhanush is reportedly portraying Akshay’s role in the Tamil version of PadMan, the rest of the cast and other details have not been figured out yet, reports say.
Dhanush is currently busy with several projects including Maari 2, his Hollywood debut The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir and Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta.
Besides Akshay Kumar, PadMan features Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles. The film revolves around Laxmikant Chauhan, who revolutionized the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkin machine. The film also stars actress Sonam Kapoor in a pivotal role.
For the uninitiated, PadMan been banned in the neighbouring nation Pakistan. The country’s Federal Censor Board has refused to give its nod for the release of the R Balki-directed film. According to the members, the film deals with ‘taboo’ subjects such as menstruation and, thus, cannot be allowed to screen in Pakistan.
