‘Have never tasted onion, how will I know…? ’: BJP’s Ashwini Choubey dismisses onion situation with bizarre remark
Day after Financial Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s ‘I don’t eat onions’ remark made headlines, getting the eyeballs in the opposition, another BJP minister dismissed the ongoing onion situation across the nation on Thursday.
Minister of Status of Health and Loved ones Welfare Ashwini Choubey on Thursday claimed that as a vegan he had never tasted onions and did not know something about the existing lack in the veggie, as a result of which many protests were demonstrated throughout the country.
“I am a vegetarian. We have never tasted an onion. So, how will a person just like me know of the circumstance (market prices) of onions? ” Ashwini Choubey stated inside a online video shared by reports organization ANI.
Ashwini Choubey also defended Financing Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who has appear under attack through the opposition for her comment. In her defence, Choubey stated, “When performed she state that (when advised about Sitharaman’s comment and requested for a response)… she never said that. See Nirmala Sitharman-ji was requested about onions and she gave an excellent answer about what the federal government does to help individuals,” he stated.
The increase inside the onion costs, with prices scaling as high as Rs 150 in Kolkata has become a warm subject matter considering that the situation had hit the land. An upswing in prices observed some heated debates and protests inside and outside the parliament.
On Wednesday Financing Minister Sitharaman was disturbed by the MPSs of opposition in a discussion in the surging onion costs within the parliament, which she claimed that she “doesn’t take in onions significantly” and is owned by children which includes little usage of onions in her cooking area.
BJP’s Ashwini Choubey, who is known for his bizarre and controversial feedback, last month allegedly shouted in the protesters before Bihar hospital, for agitating against the absence of health-related facilities in the Buxar area of Bihar. In September also, Choubey said that previous PM Morarji Desai drank cow urine for therapeutic rewards.
