Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany reacts to winning Premier League title


Manchester City’s impending Premier League title was confirmed at long-last after second-placed Manchester United slipped up against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday and Sky Blues skipper Vincent Kompany admitted he was over the moon at their latest triumph.

“It’s the same feeling as the first time and you can’t describe it. It’s amazing, such a difficult achievement and I’m proud of the team and everyone involved,” an elated Kompany gushed.

City equalled United’s record of winning for the earliest title in Premier League history, for despite having five games left in the season, they are now 16 points clear of the Red Devils and thus, it is mathematically impossible for Jose Mourinho’s men to overhaul them.

“This one differs in that we were consistent the whole season and we were able to play at the level we’re expected to perform at.”

Pep Guardiola’s first league triumph in England has come in an unforeseen manner for the Sky Blues have been terrific from day one and barring a slight blip in recent weeks, have been the dominant force in the Premier League.

“I’m buzzing, over the moon, so happy. I’m proud to be able to share this with all our fans, everybody who’s been there to support us,” the Belgian enthused.

While City’s quest for the quadruple remained elusive in the end, they did manage to win the Carabao Cup earlier as well to make it a double and a season to remember for all their fans.

The Sky Blues broke a number of league records en route to their third Premier League title of the Sheikh Mansour era, including setting an incredible steak of 18 consecutive wins set in December.
