NIA takes over Pulwama attack probe

India’s counter-terrorism agency, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), has taken over the investigation of the February 14, Pulwama suicide bombing incident in which 44 CRPF jawans were killed.
NIA Director General Yogesh Chander Modi visited the spot on Wednesday and was briefed by CRPF and local police officers. The NIA has re-registered the FIR in the case.
NIA sources said the DG was accompanied by a team of officers including two IGs, DIG and SP during the visit. The NIA officials were apprised of the progress in the investigation so far.
A Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist had rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a CRPF bus convoy on way to Srinagar, resulting in explosions killing the security personnel.
